I wasn't happy with my spool extending the filament at an odd angle to the sensor, and as I buy more stock I see a time where i may find it handy to have at least one set of spool hubs. I also envision a time when I may want to refill loose filament on a hub, and these are customizable enough that i can create a new cone with a handle for the respooling purpose.
Lessons Learned
Horizontal threads suck. I thought "yeah, I'll just spin the cone on and it'll break off all of the support structure on both." Mortals plan and gods laugh. I completely redesigned, I had learned a few things in the process of creating the first one, so i started over at the very beginning.
I fixed the threads, creating a thread profile that doesn't demand supports, and i removed the grip holes. In hindsight, perhaps that wasn't the right move. Gripping the thing to spin it together is awkward. I'll revise that in the next iteration as well.
